Start Your Engine… at the Touch of a Button Ever marveled at the old electric start button on your snow blower and wished you could have the same thing on your vehicle? It would be simplicity itself to start it — and you could forever avoid that dreaded grinding noise when you accidentally turn the key when the engine is already started? (come on, we’ve all done that once or twice …) The Nye Automotive Group is pleased to be able to offer the most cutting edge technology of the latest cars, trucks, SUVs, and vans, and now the Ford Motor Company has eliminated the fumbling for keys with the push-button convenience of available Intelligent Access on several of their latest models. The feature needs only the presence of the key fob in a pocket or purse, or anywhere else on your person, to open the doors and get the engine to start. Even before you get in, simply by clutching the door handle you activate the communication between the key fob and the vehicle’s computer. There is a silent signal sent between the two computerized mechanisms, and once the proper coding is recognized the door unlocks automatically — with the vehicle’s key still snugly put away. It‘s not magic, but cutting edge modern technology Henry Ford never dreamed of in his wildest invention inspirations. It doesn’t end there …you climb inside and activate the engine security mechanism by pressing the brake pedal. Then as you push the start button on the dashboard, the onboard computer communicates with that key fob — still secure in the safety of your pocket or wherever — to send a signal to the engine that it is okay to fire up. That prevents unauthorized persons from attempting to activate the vehicle by pushing the button, because the safety feature prohibits the startup without a proper fob within range. Intelligent Access is available on the 2013 C-Max, Focus, and Edge, and the 2014 Explorer, Escape, Flex, Taurus, and Fiesta.
