Project Restock Collection Now at NYE The NYE Automotive Group knows how important it is to be a contributing member of the community, especially in these trying times. When the local charitable outreach Project Restock was recently looking for a central and accessible location for a collection of donations for the four Oneida-area food pantries, they reached out to the folks at NYE. “We were looking for a place that would be an easy drop-off point for people bringing in donations,” said Project Restock coordinator and retired schoolteacher Ken Drake. “We went to NYE and they were very welcoming to us.” That collection center is now located at NYE’s GMC dealership‘s showroom. Current needs include staples like low-sodium canned soups and vegetables, pasta, beans, tuna, peanut butter, rice, and cereal. Baby items like diapers and formula are also needed, plus paper products, personal hygiene items, and cleaning supplies. They are also collecting used blankets and towels, as well as cat litter for the nearby Wanderers‘ Rest humane association, he added. Donations can be left at the GMC showroom Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Drake said he expects the collection to run at least through May 3, and possibly longer depending on the need. A second collection place has been set up on the other side of Oneida at City Hall, and available when the city offices are open. Drake said they encourage any individuals, businesses, churches, and student and civic groups to help support Project Restock. Monetary donations can be mailed to Drake at 468 Main St., Oneida, N.Y. 13421. For more information, call him at (315) 363-7500. The NYE food collection only started in January, but the response has already been tremendous, Drake said. “I picked up eight good-sized bags of food today alone,” he said.
