More Adventures at NYE Automotive When I nearly slid through the stop sign and into oncoming traffic last week, I knew it was time to finally break down and get my brakes fixed. Sure, the friendly technicians at the NYE Automotive Group’s Ford service center had told me at my last inspection that the time was coming soon when I would need new brakes. I just was hoping to get every last inch out of that old brake pad. Looks like I just went through it. So I’m at the point that every driver experiences where he or she weighs the expense of the repair versus the threat of calamity if the repair isn’t soon done. Going through a stop sign certainly tips the scale in the direction of the repair, so as soon as I got home I made the call to NYE’s Ford service folks. They quickly found a time convenient to my work schedule, and I initially asked to hang out in their waiting area while the repair was done. I arrived for the 9 a.m. appointment punctually, and they returned the favor, taking my Ford Focus right in for a thorough check. Within maybe 15 minutes, I already had a technician coming to see me with an explanation of what was wrong and a quote for the repair. It was worse than I expected, as not only the brake pads but the rotors also had to be replaced. The back tires were also just about bald, too. We came up with a game plan and he told me the price. Since the repair would take longer than anticipated, he even offered me “the loaner” … which, contrary to any trepidation, turned out to actually be even newer and nicer than my own car. I left driving that loaner, returned home and waited for the call. I have to admit, earlier instances at other service places had left me apprehensive about having repair work done. Too often, the price comes back substantially higher as they ran into something else, or a part is going to take a few days to arrive, or they simply forget to call and say it‘s finished. I’m happy to report none of the above happened that day at NYE. By 2 p.m. I got the call the car was done, and to my delight the bill came to exactly what was promised. I left feeling happy and driving safer than when I arrived that morning. It’s been a week now since that day, and there have been no problems in that time — something else that I can’t say has happened at other repair shops in the past. But the deal clincher was when the sweet lady at the cashier desk called not once but twice to make sure I was happy with the service. Obviously, NYE is a place that values not only my business, but also that I am satisfied with what they have done for my car and me. That’s why our entire family fleet sees only NYE repair shops for all of our service needs. And that’s why everyone else should, too!
