It’s Beginning to look a lot like ‘SHARE A CARING CHRISTMAS’

There will again be many Central New York children enjoying a brighter holiday season this year, thanks to other children’s toy and book donations to Share a Caring Christmas.

A community outreach project created nearly 30 years ago by NYE Automotive founder the late Harold Nye and Carol Neveu, formerly with Oneida radio station “MIX 106” WMCR FM 106.3, Share a Caring Christmas returns to NYE Automotive on Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event truly reflects the spirit of giving by collecting new and gently-used toys in good condition for area children whom might not otherwise find much under their trees on Christmas morning. Neveu once said her favorite part of the event was knowing kids are helping other kids by going through their own toys to find items to donate — that is the true message of the annual Share a Caring Christmas, she explained.

The festive party is held at NYE’s Ford building and presents are offered from under a giant Christmas tree on the main floor. MIX 106 broadcasts the event live, there are refreshments, and numerous musical groups lend their talents to the fun. Santa Claus himself even makes a return appearance to Share a Caring Christmas every year.

The NYE Share a Caring Christmas schedule for live music includes:

  • 10 a.m.: Oneida Middle School Chorus
  • 10:15 a.m.: Fritz’s Polka Band
  • 10:30 a.m.: St Patrick’s School Chorus
  • 10:45 a.m.: Stockbridge Valley Central School Band
  • 11 a.m.: Oneida Suzuki Violin Studio
  • 11:15 a.m.: Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Central High School musical groups
  • 11:45 a.m.: Chittenango Central School Select Choir
  • 12 p.m.: Chittenango Central School Chamber Orchestra
  • 12:15 p.m.: Chittenango Central School Brass Quintet
  • 12:30 p.m.: DeRuyter High School musical groups
  • 12:45 p.m.: Singers from Rome Elementary Schools

Don’t miss the family fun and Christmas Music this year at NYE

After Share a Caring Christmas, the gifts will be taken by the Salvation Army to be cleaned and distributed to children around the Madison County area. Toys can be dropped off at the Ford building any time during business hours before the event. Choosing and delivering the gifts is only half the fun, though — make sure to come out Dec. 8 and enjoy the holiday festivities with NYE, MIX 106, and all your friends from the community!

NYE Automotive is located at 1441 Genesee St. in Oneida and open Mondays through Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
