Getting The Most Miles Out Of Your Vehicle

At NYE Automotive Group, we’re reasonably sure there aren’t too many people leaving our lots already looking forward to their return trip to buy their next vehicle. We figure they are driving away in a vehicle they plan to keep for awhile.

Today’s vehicles are giving owners the most reliable service ever, often lasting upwards past 150,000 miles. That longevity doesn’t come by accident, of course, and there are several ways the vehicle owner can increase its lifespan and join that 150,000 mile club.

Start with buying a quality vehicle … well, you shopped at NYE Automotive, so you have that covered. Unlike the mystery autos purchased through newspaper ads and swap sheets, you know the NYE vehicle has been checked over by our certified professionals to get your relationship started right.

Make sure to visit the service department of the NYE dealership where you bought the vehicle to change the oil every 3,000 miles. We will give it a look over while you are there, because preventative maintenance is always the best way to keep you running. It’s usually cheaper than fixing something when it totally breaks down, too. Fix everything as soon as you need to, because chances are the problem will just get worse.

In addition to the regular oil changes, make sure to follow your maintenance schedule. We’ll send you reminders so you’ll know we stand behind the sale even after you leave the lot.

Keep a close ear, eye, and nose on the vehicle as you drive to check for anything that is unusual. You are the one driving it regularly, so you will be the one who knows first if something seems amiss. Then bring it to us to confirm or ease your suspicions. You may even want to have a friend drive it every so often, to catch the little things you have become accustomed to in your driving. Ride along in the passenger’s seat for a different perspective.

Wash and wax your vehicle regularly … it’s not just for the looks but also to protect the finish and head off rust damage.

Make sure you drive sensibly. Don’t rush up to a stop sign and slam on the brakes at the last minute, accelerate and brake excessively, or drive like you are in a NASCAR race. Slow and steady wins this competition — the one proving your auto’s longevity. A little TLC goes a long way.

And make sure, when you are well passed the 150,000 mile mark, that all your friends know you got that great vehicle at NYE Automotive.

The NYE Automotive Group is located at 1479 Genesee St. in Oneida, N.Y. For more info on any of our vehicles, call (315) 363-0600 or email sales@nyeauto.com.
