Adventures at the NYE Auto Service Department in Oneida NY I have to be more careful what I write about here on the NYE Automotive website — the last article described what to do when you find yourself in need of the NYE touch for emergency service repairs on your cars, and only a few short days later I suddenly started hearing an obnoxious bumping noise coming from the muffler area of my Ford Focus. For anyone who has never experienced the TLC of the NYE auto service departments, here is my story. Anybody who has been there will already be able to relate to my satisfied experience. Once again, I found myself practicing what I preach as I switched from article writer for the NYE website to their client as a sudden breakage in the muffler clamp forced an unplanned trip to NYE‘s Ford service center. Last summer when I related my personal automotive shopping adventures at NYE, I confessed that there are really few things I dread more than looking for a new vehicle. Well, truth to be told, having something go wrong with my car is one of them. But, once again, the good folks at NYE Automotive put all of my apprehensions to rest and made me feel great when I left all fixed up. True confession #2: The size of the NYE complex initially made me wonder if I would be lost in the shuffle. Not so, I quickly found out. From my initial call to 363-0600 I got right through to pleasant and sympathetic NYE personnel who planned my service appointment around my own schedule. They even offered to shuttle me to work, not realizing I was already hard at work since my post as their website writer afforded me the chance to meet some new NYE folks and do some interviews for upcoming articles even as they fixed me up. They got my car right in at the scheduled time, and I inspected the spacious waiting area that boasted a large screen TV, an abundance of seating, two desks, the certificates of their technicians, pamphlets on service offerings, hot coffee, and even a kids’ play area. It made for a pretty pleasant wait, even when there was a slight delay in getting the required muffler clamp. And I do mean “slight” — even after my man at the desk told me they were waiting for it to arrive (it figures my car would have the muffler clamp their parts department didn’t have right in stock), I was still in and out of the service department within two hours. And that also included the installation of snow tires all around. Then the bill came, and I must say I felt it was very fair. In fact, I checked with the cashier to make sure everything was included on it because it even seemed a little low. Don’t let anybody tell you service at the dealership is more expensive than at an independent shop. Not to mention there was the peace of mind in knowing these technicians are specially trained to work on my particular model — I saw their diplomas on the wall. So I’m driving along fearless now with my snow tires on and total silence in the muffler vicinity, thinking everything went pretty well at NYE service. But even when I didn’t think I could be more impressed, I get a call a couple of days later from NYE to make sure everything was OK with the job and I was happy with the service. That warmed the chill of the late fall day, and right then and there, I decided there would not be any other service center for my vehicles.
