Keep Your New Car Or Truck Looking Great, With A Little Help

Buying a new car or truck can be a great experience. Each time you get in and drive your prized possession, you get some of the same thrill of driving a new vehicle off the lot for the first time.

But over time, the new car experience fades as you continue to use your new car or truck — especially in these harsh central New York winters. Maintaining your vehicle exterior will help extend the new car experience and help protect your investment. Here are some tips:

  • Keep your vehicle garaged or covered, of course.
  • Wash and wax it faithfully. This is an important step towards protecting its exterior finish. Every day, your vehicle picks up road grime and other contaminants that stick to the paint and cause blemishes and corrosion over time.
  • Avoid drive-through automated car washes that are less effective and can leave small scratches in your paint finish.
  • Don’t neglect the underside of your vehicle and the wheel wells. Use a power wash to clean out mud, rocks, salt and other particles from underneath.
  • Although you can still use wax products, today’s paint finishes can also benefit from synthetic protective sealers. Ask your dealer for recommendations. There are also specialized products for wheels, tires and rubber trim. Be sure to use the right product for each part of your vehicle, as they are not interchangeable.

If you have questions about keeping your vehicle exterior looking its best, contact us at NYE Automotive Group. We have the products that you need to care for the interior and exterior of your vehicle. We can also help you get a good price for your well-maintained car or truck when it’s time.
